In preparation for our marketing project my group research the genre Pop. We each researched 4 different artists Taylor swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Shawn Mendez, and Ariana Grande are seen a lot of Pop songs and live performances. Through our research we also found that a lot of these Artists have a huge present in social media or just Tik Tok and Instagram and it is one of the main ways there are able to reach out to their fans. Bands use digital marketing and distribution methods just as much as they use non-digital marketing and distribution, they used merchandise like merch and vinyls to further market themselves and interact with their fans in different ways. Overall, we came to the conclusion that while many Pop Artists have a lot of different stories and ways that they go about marketing themselves, they usually follow similar themes through their marketing and the way they represent themselves. After conducting our research, we began to develop a brand for our new artist. We came up with the band, HighSkies. This is a band made up by a mix of woman and men, and it would be marketed towards teens around 17 to young adults around 30 and younger, even though Pop tends to typically be a Female genre. We came up with a marketing strategy, which will further continue to develop throughout the process of our Promo, and we began to plan how we would further distribute and advertise our brand. 

 

Representation

 Breaking bad masterfully combined the complex character arcs with themes of morality, power, and identity. At the heart of this narrative are Walter White and Jesse Pinkman, two characters whose trajectories reflect the series' exploration of the human condition, choices, and the consequences that arise from them. Their evolving representations not only highlight their individual struggles but the rest of the economic system like in the world we live in.

Walter White begins as a seemingly sympathetic figure—a high school chemistry teacher diagnosed with terminal cancer. His initial motivations stem from a desire to secure his family’s financial future. However, as the series progresses, Walter’s descent into the criminal underworld transforms him from a mild-mannered educator to the ruthless drug lord Heisenberg. This transformation illustrates a crucial representation pattern: the corrupting influence of power and the moral decay that accompanies the pursuit of ambition. Walter embodies the classic anti-hero, demonstrating how desperation can lead to ethical compromises that dehumanize him and makes him just prioritize money and making better product.

In stark contrast, Jesse Pinkman serves as a counterpoint to Walter’s ambition. Initially portrayed as a small-time methamphetamine manufacturer, Jesse’s character development throughout the series is marked by a growing awareness of the moral implications of their actions. While Walter becomes increasingly manipulative and morally ambiguous, Jesse grapples with guilt and remorse, reflecting the internal struggle between right and wrong. This juxtaposition highlights a significant representation pattern: the impact of environment and choice on personal development. Jesse’s journey illustrates the possibility of redemption, even in a world rife with corruption, as he seeks to break free from the cycle of violence and crime.

The relationship between Walter and Jesse is central to understanding these representation patterns. Their dynamic evolves from mentor-mentee to adversarial, showing themes of betrayal and moral disintegration. Walter's manipulation of Jesse reflects a toxic paternalism that underscores the series’ critique of power dynamics within relationships. Ultimately, Breaking Bad offers a nuanced exploration of character representation, challenging viewers to confront their own perceptions of morality, responsibility, and the complexities of human nature. Through Walter and Jesse, the series masterfully dissects the cause and effects of guilt and regret, revealing all the bad choices that define us and how people have regret and second thoughts about it after and feel guilty about themselves.

Sound project

 What I learned doing the sound lessons were honestly really interesting to me especially the part when I found out everything in movies use Foley throughout the whole movie if you don't know what Foley means its: a sound recreated with objects or even vegetables to replicate a sound they need for a part of a film. 

The directions of the sound project were that we had to create a audio describing a realistic situation that could happen in 1-2 minute time period but the thing is we were only able to use sound and  no pictures or videos and we had a maximum usage of 7 words which was optional and we had to create 4 of our own sounds which is “Foley” and edit all the sounds together to make it sound good.

My approach to this project was being interested, i thought it would be a little hard cause it was with editing different sounds but I thought it would be really fun to make foley and use different items to make certain noises so it really caught my attention.

 During the brainstorm me and my partner were deciding what story we should do and started saying our ideas and both decided to pick a car chase as our story so we started off with finding audios of cars speeding and drifting and we started saying all the noises the viewers would be hearing when listening to it.

 The outline helped me imagine how the story was gonna go and helped me pick out certain sounds and what I should use for the foley.

I used premiere rush for editing.

I feel like the foley was done very well but what I would like to improve was the editing of our sounds I feel like we could’ve found better sounds to replicate certain sounds but other than that I think we did really good.

My One Word Film Project: Reminiscing

    So this Project was based on a certain word we received from our teachers, we had to create a 1-1:30 minute video and we had to use 2 or more different editing techniques and around 15 shots and we had to record all  this horizontally, I'm pointing this out because me and my friend did the mistake of doing it vertically so we had to re-do it. We weren't able to use any dialogue so we just had to use the natural noises and we were able to use instrumental sounds that you create yourself. 

    My brainstorming sheet helped me visualize how the film was gonna start, the type of angles and shots and after of so much thinking and discussing we stared writing and then after we started writing it on our Story board. Our storyboard helped us out a lot and started giving us like a visual of how the whole film was gonna be after drawing it all out and actually having a image oh how it might be.

    The editing resources i used was "Premiere Rush" its a very reliable editing website most likely gonna use it again in the future.

    What was done well in my project in my opinion it was how concentrated we were and how we made the d editing on point and we did so much in less than a minute and a half so I feel like that project we did really good. What I would want to improve would most likely be the transitions so they would line up better or maybe have used a effect to make it look more realistic.

This is my One Word Film project link, my word was reminiscing. 

My "Camera Shots Quiz"

 For this assignment, our teacher assigned us a project to tell a story using 15 picture and using certain types of shots and angles and giving a short description of each photo.

I think me and my partner approached this assignment good because we both had ideas and our own characters for the story's so at the end we decided to use both characters and we both ended up coming up with good idea of the "Adventures of the Air Pods". 

Its a adventurous story about a Air Pod case that went on a adventure and climbed up a tree to get to see a beautiful view from up high and found himself slipping off on his way back down and finding himself injuring himself after landing on top of the Monkeys house and the Monkey realizes and rushes to try and save him and after he did they ended it off with a hug and a happy ending.

I think me and my partner  did a good job choosing the shots and angles and in the photos with the monkey you can see more emotions based off his facial expressions. My favorite shot was the last photo it was a Two-Shot showing the monkey and Air Pods hugging after Monkey saves his life, so he's showing his appreciation. I feel like I could've made the establishing shot better and taken a picture with the tree he was gonna climb instead we just made the establishing shot the area surrounding the tree. And I think we could've used something better to play the Air Pods role so we could've used an object or toy that would show more facial expressions.
